There are stones that root. There are stones that protect. And then… there is labradorite. The one that awakens.
It’s never been just a pretty stone to me. Not some sparkle to collect and forget. Labradorite is a portal in your palm. A mirror to the parts of you still sleeping. A shimmering spell that calls you to the edge—and dares you to cross.
This is the stone of thresholds. Of veils lifting. Of truths unspoken but deeply felt.
And right now, under the waning moon and the deepening energy of the 9/9 portal, she’s waking up for those willing to walk with her.
Born of Fire + Ice
Labradorite was first discovered in Labrador, Canada (hence the name). Some of the most ancient lore around this stone comes from the Inuit, who believed that labradorite was a piece of the northern lights—frozen fire that fell from the sky and became earthbound.
It forms deep within the Earth, under intense heat and pressure, and only emerges through volcanic rock. Like many of us, labradorite is forged in darkness—and then rises to the surface when it's ready to shine.
Its glowing flash—those blues, greens, golds, sometimes even purples—is called labradorescence. And it only shows itself when the light hits just right.
That’s the thing about labradorite: you have to look at it from the right angle. You have to wait for the mystery to reveal itself.
Why I Call It a Threshold Stone
Labradorite is never loud. But it is profound.
This year—2025—carries triple-nine energy: 2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 9. And when the 9/9 portal opens, we’re walking into a current of endings, closures, sacred releases.
That’s when I reach for labradorite.
Because just as this year holds the vibration of three nines, labradorite holds a three-phase offering for the soul:
INTUITIONLabradorite helps you hear what’s been buried beneath the noise. It opens the inner eye. Softens the static. It shows you—gently—what you're ready to release.
RELEASEOnce truth is seen, labradorite helps unhook it from your field.Like a cosmic comb, it clears what’s tangled in your energy body.Quiet. Efficient. Sacred.
TRANSITIONThe void after release can be unsettling.Labradorite holds you there. It’s a stone that whispers:“Don’t rush. Something new is coming. Let this moment open you.”
It’s not just a spiritual tool. It’s a sacred companion. A soul mirror.
Ritual Tips + Magic
I love working with labradorite during moon rituals—especially waning and new moons. If the veil is thin, this stone is even more powerful. Think:
9/9
11/11
Eclipses
Shadow work
Dreamwork
Soul retrieval journeys
One of my favorite rituals, especially on 9/9, is to pair labradorite with bay leaf:
The Ritual
Light a candle.
Hold labradorite in your non-dominant hand. Let it open your intuition.
In your dominant hand, write on a bay leaf what you’re ready to release.
Burn the bay leaf, letting smoke carry your intention into the unseen.
As you release, press labradorite to your heart or third eye.
Say: “I release. I trust. I become.”
Simple. Deep. True.
Fun Facts (Because the Magic Runs Deep)
Labradorite is a form of feldspar, the same family as moonstone and sunstone.
It’s said to enhance psychic abilities, especially clairvoyance and energy reading.
Some indigenous lore says it strengthens the aura—making you invisible to negative forces.
It’s a favorite among shamans, energy workers, and mystics for exactly that reason: it’s a stone of light wrapped in shadow.
Final Word: This Stone Is a Mirror
Labradorite doesn’t perform. It reflects. It doesn’t beg for your attention. It waits for your willingness to see.
And when you do?It shows you the liminal, the sacred, the next layer of who you truly are.
If you're standing at a threshold right now…If you're ready to release and rise…Labradorite is already waiting for you.
